Description

Because of its origin from Africa, Makore wood is also known by its scientific name T. africana. It primarily grows in Western and Middle Africa. The tree height is about 180-220 ft, color is pink or red-brown, and the trunk is about 4-6 ft in diameter.

Makore lumber is rich in tannin which makes it more durable and insect/fungi resistant, this is one of the easiest wood to work with and turns out well after giving a blunting effect while cutting as it is rich in silica.

Makore is a commercial hardwood mainely used for flooring, paneling, furniture building etc, it is one of the strongest wood available out there due to which it is also sometimes used for boatbuilding as well.
