Description

Ekop-Naga is one of the lesser-known African timber species that is primarily grown in the coastal region of south-east Cameroon. Its scientific name is Brachystegia leonensis and is exclusively found in Africa.

The physical characteristics of Ekop-Naga include white to pale yellow color for sapwood and pale fawn to dark brown color for heartwood. It’s easier to work with when fresh and gets stronger as dried, making it difficult to saw. Ekop-Naga timber is produced from a tree that is usually 18 m tall and has a trunk diameter ranging from 0.7 m to 1.2 m.

Common applications & uses of Ekop-Naga timber include interior woodwork projects such as flooring, furniture making, joinery, panelling, stairs, frames and parquet floors.
